We extend a very warm welcome to St Alkmund’s Parish Church, Duffield, within the Diocese of Derby. We are a Conservative Evangelical church with a deep longing to share the Good News of Jesus Christ, within our local parishes, our wider communities and beyond. We are committed to seeing people come to faith in Christ and to enabling Christians grow in their faith, with the Gospel at the very heart of all that we do. Our ministry is Gospel-centred, with a strong emphasis on expository Bible preaching and teaching. We believe that the Bible is God’s inerrant Word and the final authority in matters of faith and doctrine and we uphold the Thirty Nine Articles of the Church of England.
Our aim is to reach out to, and provide ministry for all ages, backgrounds and sections of our local communities. We seek to make our services as accessible and as welcoming as possible to newcomers and visitors. We positively encourage people to ask questions, to discuss the bible and its relevance to our lives – our work, worship and witness. We seek to share the Gospel, in a way that is relevant and engaging for all ages. Do come and join us at any of our events or services!
Our vision is that by God’s grace we will grow in number (primarily through conversion growth), and spiritually towards maturity in Christ, so that more people will become disciples of Christ; more people will grow into maturity in Christ and so become intentional and effective disciple-makers; and that the transforming power of the Gospel is evidenced in our church, community and surrounding area.
The characteristics of our vision have been to reach, teach, tend and send, and include a desire to reach all ages and all peoples of the parish through a welcoming, flexible and varied approach to presenting the Gospel; Gospel-fuelled discipleship; equipping every Christian to grow and serve, in the power of the Holy Spirit; and helping to advance the Kingdom of God in our community and beyond, including working together with other Gospel-centred churches to plant new churches.
