The Vicarage
1st September 2019
Dear Friends,

We have been talking for a while now about ‘the things that are happening in September’ and it is finally September, so there are many things that are now upon us.
Hopefully you have already seen one of the changes we have made, the relaunch of our Parish Magazine in full colour, with more articles. My thanks go to Jeff Taplin and the many others who have made this relaunch possible. If you haven’t yet received your copy, do pick one up in church. Also, we are looking to increase the circulation of the magazine in the village by delivering to more roads – if you might be able to deliver to your road – and you don’t already get one through the door – then do speak to Jeff or myself.
Today is our Holiday Club Sunday, which means we are having a joint service with Little Eaton at 10am, and this marks the beginning of the changes we are making to our service pattern across the benefice. Our new Afternoon Service at Little Eaton at 4.30pm launches on the 15th September 2019. This is an exciting opportunity to do something new, and to seek to reach a new group of people, in Little Eaton, but also more widely. We will also be welcoming some new people at our 10am service here in Duffield, as some folk from Little Eaton join us – do make them very welcome.
And of course, the Come and See Mission is coming soon. As well as the meals on Friday 20th September in Little Eaton and Saturday 21st September at St Alkmund’s, we will be having special Guest services on Sunday 22nd September at both churches. Alongside that, various small groups within the church are organising events. This mission is all about coming and seeing, so let me encourage you to do that, and to bring friends.
Finally, we round September off on the 29th with our Harvest festivals here at 10am and at 4.30pm in Little Eaton. A great opportunity to give thanks to God for His goodness to us. The morning service here at Duffield will be a family service, so bring the family, and your harvest gifts to benefit of those in need and to the glory of God.
And after that, we can all have a nice lie down!
Yours in Christ,
